I had a great time getting my open water license. The wonderful thing about MSV is their flexibility. I had a very limited time to get my open water license and they were able to accommodate my hours and needs to fit my schedule. I would not have been able to do it any other way. I also enjoyed the fact that they were a full service shop: you could buy just the dive trip or you could rent the full set of equipment and be driven to the site. You could also get the full certification there or just finish up your ocean dives if you are from out of town.  It's really up to your comfort level.

Although I have always loved the sea and scuba diving, and as a physician trained in diving medicine had previously been very active in the sport, it had been many years since I had practiced it and wanted a refresher course before starting again. I did this with Colby and it was the best decision I could have made. His one-on-one, personalized sessions helped me get reacquainted with the equipment and gave me the necessary skills to safely enjoy diving again. His instructor assistant used for the recertifying dives was also extremely knowledgeable and experienced, not only in diving, but in the management of all types of injuries and emergencies (firefighter/ paramedic) and knowing this put me completely at ease. I have since gone diving "on my own" and had a great time! I want to thank Colby for providing me with the skills and confidence I needed in order to be able to enjoy this great sport again.

Colby Johnson was the best choice I could have made for a scuba instructor. My sister was visiting Miami for only two weeks and we wanted to be certified to dive in that short time frame. He was very flexible in scheduling our classes and the fact that there were only three students made me feel very comfortable in the water. Colby's instruction gave me the confidence to go for my scientific diver certification. I still dive in Miami and the Florida Keys on a regular basis and from time to time try to catch the same boat as Colby's dive class.... it's always nice to know you are in the water with such a professional diver. I thought your class was great! I decided to take the Open Water Course with Colby because he was flexible with the class times. He basically told me that I could do it whenever my schedule permitted. That was perfect for me because I didn't have a lot of free time to play with. In fact, I was happy enough just being able to fit the class into my schedule, but the instructor was great! He very articulate, and even made some of the boring class work interesting with stories and jokes. I was also really impressed with his knowledge of marine life. Overall, I just had so much fun throughout the whole class. I can't wait to go diving again and I'm trying to get everyone I know to get certified also. Colby was the best instructor and dive buddy I have had so far. My son Bud and I want to let you know what a great experience we had completing our PADI Open Water check out dives with you during our recent trip to Coral Gables. We were somewhat apprehensive to arrange our dives via your web site on the internet but a phone call to you answered all of our questions. The option of pickup and drop off at our hotel as well  the flexibility to schedule our dives around our other family vacation commitments was great. You put us at ease both before and during our dives including the skills review and the ratio of one instructor for two students was fantastic.

We were thankful that you offered us the option to dive in several locations. The dives in Pennekamp as well as Key Biscayne were the highlights of our trip and we especially enjoyed the effort you put into identifying the fish and other marine life we encountered. The joys of the United Kingdom are a far cry from the heat and relaxed atmosphere of Miami . I wanted to say thanks again for the Scuba Course and most importantly taking the time to pick me up and drop me off in Miami Beach.That service was great!

I did another four dives in Cayman and finally got my buoyancy correct.The last day, the first dive was on the wall and I came face to face with an eagle ray!

We want to thank Miami Scuba Ventures for the fantastic time we have had during our diving trip in late 2005. We would like to recommend this organization to any diver with or without experience. For people who are not experienced divers, the pool session is an excellent warming-up session in which you will learn all the basics for your first diving trip and at your own speed (some snorkeling experience may come in handy). The visibility was good but of course this can change from day to day and from one diving site to another. We were picked up and dropped off right in front of our hotel, which is very easy for visitors who do not have a rental car. This is a must-do experience which can not be missed when visiting Miami . We came from Ireland and have just completed the half-day Underwater Photography course with Colby Johnson. The course was great and I would like to recommend it anyone interested in capturing underwater images. I also did two guided dives. We thoroughly enjoyed the diving and would highly recommend diving with Colby (just a really down to earth nice guy). All the diving along with the course was very well organized and we had nothing to do but enjoy the two days diving and became better underwater photographers along with it.
