PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer Colby Johnson has been an active SCUBA Instructor
since 1990, logging thousands of dives along the way and developing a
great appreciation for the tropical marine environment.
A graduate of PADI International College in Los Angeles, Colby began his scuba career in Ft. Lauderdale and then traveled abroad for five years, living and working in the out islands of the Bahamas, Hawaii, Thailand and Malaysia.
In 1995, he returned to South Florida and completed his Bachelors degree in Business Management and Marine Affairs at the University of Miami.
in creating Miami Scuba Ventures LLC in 2003, the goal was to meet a niche need in providing personalized, flexibly scheduled recreational scuba experiences in Miami and Key Largo, offering a level of service and professionalism often lacking in the high volume operators found throughout South Florida.
In 2000, he married a Miami native and UM Marine Science graduate, Jennifer, an avid diver who works with NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service on coral reef issues, science planning, and the protection of endangered/threatened species.
In November 2005, the couple welcomed their beautiful daughter into their lives. Some say Caroline may have been born with gills but we haven't seen them yet.
The "Christ of the Abyss" statue in Key Largo is one of more than 40 coral reef sites that we visit.
